Welcome to The House
This is not a restaurant.
It is not a café.
It is a home in the mountains, surrounded by rice fields and trees, where the seasons turn slowly and afternoons seem to last a little longer.
There is just one table here.
A British host welcomes one private group at a time.
Inside the house, Britain and Japan sit naturally beside one another.
Shoji screens.
Wedgwood teacups.
Old English furniture.
Soft linen.
And smoke-darkened beams that have watched over the irori for generations.
Nothing is here merely for decoration. It all belongs to the life of the house.
The floorboards creak a little.
The garden grows as it pleases.
Somewhere, a kettle is quietly coming to the boil.
It is not perfect.
That is precisely why we love it.
People come here for more than lunch or afternoon tea.
They come to leave the everyday behind for a while.
To notice the season.
To breathe more deeply.
And to spend a quiet afternoon in the mountains.
Please make yourself at home.
Welcome to
The House.
